EAST LONDON CRICKET TOURNAMENT
The tournament was organised by ex students from Langdon who wanted to bring the East London community together to raise funds the famine that has hit the Somalia. It also raised funds for the small community organisation that helps children excel in sports such as cricket, football and other sports at the school.
The tournament involved 8 teams who eagerly wanted to grasp the first East London indoor cricket trophy. Many talents were on show during the day; some playing for existing semi professional cricket clubs while others who just had great passion for the game. However after fierce battles between different teams Dynamite Ducks and Plaistow CC were placed in the final for a mouth watering finale. Both teams had already encountered each other during the group stages whereby feisty interactions between the two teams created a lively atmosphere. Nevertheless it was the consistency of the Dynamite Ducks that shined through and they took the first East London Cricket indoor Tournament trophy.
As a result, the event on 11th March generated £420.00. However the community work does not stop here for many, we continue to encourage playing sport at a competitive level. This is one way of eradicating anti-social behaviour with the youth and encouraging physical fittness and healthy lifestyles.
