Reception Langdon All Through School - What a Great Start!
It has been a time of big changes at Langdon All Through School as we welcomed our very first intake of primary pupils in September.
Our primary families have received a warm welcome from the school community and are already getting actively involved in school life with regular coffee mornings and parent workshops, run by Mrs Cole our senior Early Years Educator. Learning through play is a key part of the Early Years Curriculum and our Reception pupils are certainly enjoying their learning.
As well as learning taking place both indoors and outdoors, our Early Years teachers, Ms Ahmed, Ms Ellis and Ms Evans have been working hard to make sure the primary day is filled with exciting experiences.
At this age learning about the world around us is important and we have certainly been doing lots of learning! With the help of Mr Tatum and the science department we have watched duck eggs hatch and raised 11 ducklings, with Reception pupils making sure they were warm, fed and watered.
"Our reception pupils all look very smart in their new Langdon uniforms."
As well as the ducks we have had visits as part of our topic on ‘People Who Help Us’. PC Hannah, our Safer Schools Police Officer, came to talk to us about her job and all of the things the police do to help us and keep us safe. Everyone wanted to ask a lot of questions and also see the police officer’s handcuffs! Being a police officer sounded like an exciting job so we turned our role play area into a police station and even made a squad car.
The fire fighters also came in to school to talk to us about fire safety and how to keep safe. They talked to us about their jobs and we even got to sit in the fire engine. It was a great day – even the teachers got to have a go with the water sprayer. I don’t know who had more fun teachers or pupils!
We have lots of visitors but we have also been out and about getting to know our school. We have especially enjoyed the trampoline lessons with secondary pupils and the PE department and also the special PE day which Mr. Moat. Everyone slept well after all of that exercise.
So as you can see we are learning lots and having a great time in school. We like having visitors and the secondary pupils have been very nice with lots of classes coming to visit us. We feel very at home in our new school and have even starred in the Langdon School video.
