Langdon Pupils Look to Their Future
On the day, the students were able to listen to the guest speakers; Ms Irene Uwejeyah from The Brokerage, Mr Dave Wake from Construction Skills and Ms Lina Jimenez from Uinversity of Greenwich. The speakers covered many important issues to do with the working environment including roles and responsibilities, punctuality, appearance and positive attitudes. Ms Jimenez from the university described life at university and was exceptionally motivating for the students as she talked about the opportunities available in higher education.
As part of the event, a short film of our Year 10s been interviewed about their feelings towards going on their placements was shown. The students were all very positive and everybody was able to relate to what was said. The current Year 10s thoroughly enjoyed this session and were keen to take the opportunity to put all the advice they received into practice.
The two week placements began week begining Monday 16th May. Some of the placements included reatail stores, primary schools, banks and hospitals. Several students even had to travel to central London and thoroughly enjoyed the experience of working in the city.
One student commented saying “... I look forward to finishing my education and start working.” Well done to all our Year 10s!
