Learning to Lead

The students also designed their own lesson observation form and took part in role play exercises on how to give feedback.  They then practised on willing staff volunteers!

The next stage of the process was to share this with students from other schools.  Our first visitors for this year came in February from St Mary’s School, Hendon.  Fifteen students from Years 8 and 9 at St Mary’s spent the day at Langdon and were trained by the Langdon students.  They also went out around the school and observed lessons. It was an excellent day.

In their evaluations of the day, the St Mary’s students commented on how much they had enjoyed it and were looking forward to taking their new learning and skills back to their own school to develop further.  Fatima also in Year 8 said “I was really nervous at first but everyone took it really seriously and we didn’t want the day to end.”  We are looking forward to organising the next round of student lesson observations, including with our Trainee Teachers, and working with other schools.

“A wonderful day …You could see yourself how very much the students enjoyed the day and meeting your lead learners.  The training you provided was invaluable.”  Assistant Headteacher at St.Mary’s, Ms Kyriacou
